Limit to viewable object size?

Version 8.3.

I have a user who has pasted about three A4 pages worth of text into a single object (don't ask!). If he is editing the object then all the text is available via a scroll bar, but only about 58 lines are visible when the object is not being edited. Does anyone know why this is? I had expected the new single-line scrolling in 8.3 to allow me to see the whole of an object and scroll through it on the screen whether I was editing it or not.

And if this is a deliberate limitation, can someone tell me if it affects output generated via WEXP? Is the whole object exported, or just what you can see (the first 58 lines)?

Exporting to word shouldn't be a problem but excel is different story.

You might reconsider the praticallity of a 3 page object.

I woudn't try to justify having such an object, but when I saw the problem I was intrigued and wondered if it might arise in other circumstances, depending on the cause. For example, the same user has pasted in information exported from another tool (again, debatable whether that is the best approach) and I can see that that may be more time consuming to split into multiple objects.
